FAQ

  • Do you take insurance?

Yes, I am “in-network” for several insurers. Namely Aetna, Cigna, Carelon BH, Health Net, Kaiser Northern CA, Optum, United Health Care, Sutter Health, Western Health Advantage.

If your insurer is not on that list, I am considered “out of network” and I can provide you with a superbill to give your insurer so that you can recoup some of the cost of your sessions.

  • What is "EAP"?

EAP is short for “Employee Assistance Program”. This is a free benefit you get from your employer for short term counseling. I am a contracted provider for several EAP companies; Optum, BHS, Livewell, Lyra, Carelon, Beacon Health, to name a few.

Almost ALL corporations have this free service. You can find your EAP benefit information by contacting your human resources department or looking up your benefits package information.

  • How do I know if you are a good fit for me?

Not every therapist is right for everyone, and that's okay. It’s a good idea to research any healthcare provider you want to work with. You can find me on platforms like Psychology Today, LinkedIn, and Healthgrades. Feel free to email me with any questions about myself and my approach to treatment. I’m also working on a blog/vlog and expanding my social media so you have more information about me before booking.

  • How does therapy typically work?

While there is never a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, talk therapy with me usually happens in three phases.

The first phase is me learning all about you. I will be asking a lot of questions about your life, your background, learning about the issues you face and outlining goals you would like to accomplish in therapy. Second phase is the treatment phase. Here I provide tools, perspectives and suggestions to help you reach your goals. Finally, the third phase is encouraging you to practice the tools learned in therapy in your daily life.

  • What is your approach to therapy?

My therapy approach is varied. A strong connection with clients is key for success. I use proven methods like cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, acceptance and commitment therapy and the Gottman method for individuals, couples and families.
